Appeal for information

Dear Resident

We are appealing for further information as part of an investigation into a rape in Sandwell Valley Country Park.

On Monday 29 June, a woman was found injured in the Priory Woods area of the park at around 10.15am.

Following enquiries, we believe the woman was raped.

She was taken to hospital for assessment and has since been discharged, and she is being supported by specially trained officers.

We are appealing for anyone who was in the area from around 8am until 11am who may have information about what happened.

Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths said, Public Projection Unit, said: “In the last three weeks officers have been reviewing CCTV footage from around Sandwell Valley Country Park, examining forensic evidence, and speaking to anyone who may have vital information about what happened.

“Neighbourhood officers have been patrolling the area since the incident and specialist officers will be revisiting the park today to speak to anyone who may have information.

“We know the park would have been busy on a Monday morning with people enjoying the sunshine. We need to hear from you if you saw anything that was suspicious. “
